A Career Change to Consulting

When she started her MBA studies, someone advised Desirae Early to “go slow” before getting involved in student government and clubs. She is glad she ignored the advice. Her involvement in business plan competitions, the Evening &Weekend MBA Social Committee and the Net Impact Club are helping make the program the best it can be.

The professors connect the curriculum closely to the real world

“I knew I needed two things to help me decide my career path: a solid academic foundation in business and a good foundation of practical resources. Berkeley Haas gives me both.”

“The curriculum is so much more engaging than I was expecting, mostly because the professors connect it closely to the real world.”“I appreciate the time my professors take to hone their syllabuses to emphasize the practical side of things. They also do an excellent job of fielding questions from students, often letting the conversations drive the direction we take.”

The culture of innovation percolates through everything at Haas

“As I go forward in my studies and gain confidence in my skills and knowledge, it becomes easier to Question the Status Quo in classroom discussions and in the office.”

“The culture of innovation percolates through everything at Berkeley Haas.”“A classmate I met through a club event is now my partner in a new business venture. We found an empty classroom and covered the white board with ideas. We’re looking forward to using the entrepreneurship classes, such as Lean Launchpad, to incubate our idea.”

I’m impressed by their willingness to refer me on to their networks

“I enjoy trying different things, so I enjoy the experiential classes Berkeley Haas offers. Social Sector Solutions, for example, is an opportunity to gain insights into a kind of enterprise I am not familiar with.”

“Everyone I’ve reached out to in the Haas Alumni Network has been really helpful and approachable. I’m impressed by their willingness to refer me on to other people in their networks.”

Students Always means being curious about the world and yourself. It’s almost an addiction for me. I seem to change jobs every couple of years because I am always looking for something to take me out of my element.”
