Video Interview

Our video interview provides the opportunity to ensure each candidate receives a very similar interview experience, which aids us in reducing unconscious bias in our admissions process. We are using the video interview to get to know you better outside of a written essay template. We also hope it is more convenient for those candidates who are applying from outside of the Bay Area.

After you submit your application, you will receive a link to complete the video interview within 48 hours. After you receive the link you have SEVEN days to complete the video interview.

This due date may be after the application deadline depending when you submit your application and that is acceptable as the video interview has a unique and separate deadline which will be shown in the email that includes the link to the video interview platform.

Applicants will complete two short video questions. One question will be based on your desire to attend Haas and the other will give us a chance to get to know you better. For each question, you will have 1-2 minutes of response time. Please don’t feel obligated to use the entire response time, we’re interested in what you have to say, not how long your answer is.

After you receive the link you have SEVEN days to complete the video interview. However, we encourage you to complete it shortly after receiving your invitation.

Once you launch your official interview you will have only one opportunity to answer each question. Unfortunately, there is NOT an option to redo the official responses. You will, however, have the opportunity to answer practice questions to get you familiar with the system. If you finish answering the questions before your allotted time expires, you can end the recording early.

***If you experience a technical difficulty while recording your official response, please email ewmbaadm@haas.berkeley.edu. We will review your request for a retake on a case by case basis. 

We are looking for your fit within the Haas community and understand your motivations for pursuing an MBA. We think of this as an opportunity to get to know you better as a person, not just who we see on your written application. With that in mind, try to use this opportunity to show us your authentic self. Don’t try to give us the answers you think we want to hear - we want to get to know the real YOU!

No, we expect each applicant to use good judgement regarding what they wear. Business casual is completely acceptable, and keep in mind we will only be seeing your head and shoulders anyway!

Wherever you are most comfortable, as long as you have a reliable internet connection in a quiet environment and no distractions. 

No, we will not be conducting in-person interviews. 

If you did not do as well as you had hoped during your video interview, this does not mean you will be denied admission. The application review process is holistic, which means there is no singular application component, such as the video interview, that will make or break your chances of admission.
